One day, a young boy was out for a walk with his dad when they came across an old beggar sitting on the street, asking for help. The boy, curious and unfiltered, approached the man.
“Excuse me, sir, can I ask you a question?” he said brightly.
“Of course,” the old man replied, his voice warm despite his situation.
“What happened to your legs? Why don’t you have any?” The boy's innocent question caught the old man off guard. The boy's father felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him and quickly whispered to his son, “You shouldn’t ask people such personal questions.”
The beggar, however, smiled and replied, “Can I share a short story with you instead?”
Intrigued, the boy nodded eagerly.
“It’s a true story,” the old man began, “about a boy just like you. He had a beloved donkey named Banjo. One day, while they were playing by the river, a crocodile suddenly leaped out and dragged Banjo under the water. The boy was heartbroken and, filled with rage, jumped in after the crocodile, determined to save his friend.”
The boy listened intently, his eyes wide.
“But things took a turn for the worse,” the old man continued. “Another crocodile attacked him, and in that struggle, he lost his legs. And that boy… that boy grew up to be me.”
The boy looked at the old man in astonishment. “So, you’re saying that all happened to you?”
“Yes,” the beggar replied, a hint of sadness in his eyes. “And through my experience, I learned a vital lesson about anger and revenge. I was so consumed by my desire for vengeance that I didn’t realize the danger I was putting myself in. If I had walked away that day instead of letting my anger drive me, I wouldn’t be sitting here as a legless beggar.”
The boy’s father nodded, reflecting on the lesson. The old man continued, “Remember, it’s crucial to control your anger. Forgiveness is not about letting others off the hook; it’s about freeing yourself. You deserve peace, and holding onto anger only keeps you trapped in the past.”
The boy stood there, absorbing every word. He realized that it wasn’t just a story about loss; it was a powerful reminder of the importance of letting go.
Key Takeaway:
Anger and the desire for revenge can lead to actions that haunt us forever. Choose forgiveness, not for others, but for your own peace.

well....I understand the message you have here..Not sure the legless guy acted out of anger..He was ,.A Hero, would that be accurate? I got Burned by my brother for a lot of money. My anger almost killed me. over several years I softened a bit, and we were on our way to reconcile, but he smoked himself to lung cancer, and death. He Died the day before my birthday...I was hounding him for 6 years for that money, and he apparently smoked more, so I feel Partly responsible... But knowing I was on the forgiveness path, is enough for me to not feel guilty about it.. So That's it....
Quite a lesson!
